Thermostatic and Pressure Balanced Shower Valve
How It Works:

The mixed water temperature is regulated by eliminating variations in temperature and/or pressure in the incoming water supply. Incoming water is first led past a regulating shuttle which positions itself so that both hot and cold water enter the mixing chamber at the same pressure.

In the mixing chamber the thermostat (a copper-plated brass bulb filled with wax and copper-powder) reacts to the temperature of the mixed water. As it expands or contracts, the thermostat adjusts the proportions of incoming hot and cold water.

The temperature of the mixed water is continually being measured and adjusted to match that decided by the temperature control knob.

Specifications:

Installation requirements:

  • Cold water supply temperature 5-25° C
  • Hot water supply temperature 50-80° C
  • Water supply pressure 50-1000 kPa

Tested and approved: Every mixing valve is tested and approved. The mixing valves are subjected to the following tests: Tightness test with open and closed flow control. Tightness test of hot and cold water seat. Fail safe test. Cold water pressure 100 kPa >Hot water pressure -checking the mixed water temperature. Hot water pressure 100 kPa >Cold water pressure -checking the mixed water temperature. The mixing valves are delivered with the calibration setting to provide 38° C at hot water supply temperature of 60-65° C and cold water supply of 10-15° C.

The surface finish: The mixer body is made of dezincification resistant (DR) brass, chrome-plated or powder-coated. Knobs in plastic, standard version chrome-plated. Cleaning: Both the metal finishes (ie Chrome Plate) and the epoxy coated products are best preserved by regular cleaning with a soft cloth and warm soapy water, rinsed with clean water and polished with a soft dry cloth. Do not use abrasive products (Liquid or powder) or acid based agents.

The check-valves: FM Mattsson models are provided with type approved check-valves to prevent cross flow from hot to cold or visa versa. The stainless steel filter-screens prevent large particles from entering the mixing mechanism and hindering performance.

Features:

  • Thermostatically controlled: Ensures an even water temperature
  • Pressure Balanced: Automatically compensates for variations in water pressure
  • Safety Stop: Built-in temperature "child" stop can be set so temperature will never exceed a pre-determined level
  • Water Conserving: Saves precious water without any loss of comfort
  • Automatic Shut-down: Unit automatically shuts down if the hot or the cold water supply is interrupted.
  • Rugged and stylish: Made from solid cast brass
  • Available in many styles to fit most any installation
